Inspired by memories of the Murrumbidgee River landscape of my childhood growing up in Wagga Wagga, At One With the Light of Dawn reflects my enduring connection to Australia's inland rivers.
As the first light of morning washes the landscape in pinks, golds and violets, a white-necked heron rises gracefully from the water. Alone, yet never lonely, it embodies freedom, independence and the quiet strength of being completely at one with its surroundings.
Part of my Sole Witness Collection, this mixed media and oil painting explores presence, belonging and our connection with the natural world. In this fleeting moment of dawn, bird, water, land and light become one.
